Bredbury St Marks Ladies and Girls Cricket
Girls of all ages are welcome to come on down and have a go. We have up to five coaches who help out with our training sessions and matches.
LADIES
The 2008 season will be our third. We are due to join forces with the ladies from Romiley and play as WERNETH LADIES in the Cheshire Women’s Cricket League. This joint side will play on Sunday afternoons in 40 overs a side league matches against Hyde, Neston and Harwarden.
Bredbury and Romiley are entering their own separate teams in the league’s 20/20 and cup KO games. Most of these will be in the evening and against local sides – Romiley, Brooklands, Poynton and Hyde. All these matches will be played with a hard cricket ball. Many of our star performers for our ladies team were only 13 or 14 years old last year. The future is definitely bright.
GIRLS
The girls will have several tournaments including the Lady Taverners, the Greater Manchester Youth Games (representing Stockport) and those run by the Cheshire Women’s Cricket League. This year Bredbury will have U13 (years 5 to 9 approx) friendly matches against Marple, High Lane, Compstall and hopefully Romiley. Most of these matches will be with a softball.
PRACTICES AT THE CLUB
Ladies
We have outdoor practices for Ladies (age 14 upwards) on Thursdays from 6.30pm starting on 17 April 2008. Please bring your own bat, pads, helmets, if you have them. If not we have a kit bag you can use.
Girls
Our junior practices are on Fridays from 7pm to 8pm. We will be using a softball and again kit is provided.
On Fridays May 9 and 16 we will be holding trials for the girls U13 and U15 teams to be entered in this years Greater Manchester Youth Games (July 12 2008).
